Field Work
Southeastern New Mexico *
Bi-monthly field monitoring trips in Sitting Bull Falls, Lincoln National Forest. July 2017 - November 2019.
During my PhD, I set up a source (spring) to sink (cave dripwater) monitoring system. It required collecting waters for traditional stable isotope and trace element concentration analysis. Water temperature, conductivty, pH levels were also measured using an Ultrameter. In the cave, cave-air CO2, relative humidity, and temperature were measured to understand the cave meteorology. Modern cave calcite was also precipiated in the cave. Lastly, ISCOs and LTC Leveloggers were deplyed during the wet season to capture hydro and chemo -graphs.
Central Texas *
Monthly trips to Central Texas caves (Westcave, Inner Space Caverns, Natural Bridges Caverns, Cave Without A Name) as part of Dr. Banner’s research group. July 2016 - March 2021.
Trained incoming graduate and undergraduate students on the protocols for cave monitoring in central Texas caves. Duties included training students in clean labs, dirty labs, and in caves.
